My entry for the Gaia Community 2008 Scholarship..what you think?

            My purpose is to be true to myself! I'm here to love myself and others! My gift is my love of animals!

           My greatest love is love. I have learned form personal experiences that living without love is not living at all. My huge love of animals is what made me become vegetarian. My love of girls is what showed me, you need to accept all people as they are and made me become a gay rights' activist. My love of people has made me a humanist. And my love of love has helped me overcome many obstacles and made me stronger.

In speech and debate I gave many speeches on animals' rights. I opened people's eyes to the cruelty animals face. I am a firm believer of actions speak louder than words and that you can say you support something all you want but if your actions say otherwise it doesn't matter what words come out of your mouth. I could give all the speeches I wanted but would have never has such an impact if I hadn't become vegetarian, went to all the protest, taken in all the strays, or devoted myself to so many animals' rights causes.

Growing up in the home of a single mother who cared more about her many boyfriends' welfare than that of her child's was hard. She would rather see her child out on the street than truly loved for the 1^st time because it's by a woman. So I have learned that my greatest love is love because without it you have nothing and with it you have the willpower to overcome anything!

           My ideal job is the one I have right now....being all I can be! Going to my protests, working hard to become a zoo veterinarian and donating my time to worthy causes is my ideal job! I want to be a veterinarian, not for the pay, but for the fulfillment it will give me. I go to my protests, not for the glory, but for the sense of pride in knowing I fought for what I believed in. I donate my time to these various causes, not for the credit, but to help those who need it.

I truly believe that if you don't wake up looking forward to going to work or you just don't look forward to the day then you need to make some changes in your life. What you do with your life isn't about getting rich or having the best things money can buy; it's about falling asleep at night with that feeling of accomplishment. Life is all about improving the world and being happy with the person you are. Knowing I have I have made a difference, maybe not in the whole world, but in someone's life is all I need!
